Do you like what you’re doing right now?

purpose

How do we find our purpose? Do you like what you’re doing right now? Is this your passion?

If not, why are you doing it?

As a mentor, I speak about how finding our purpose is a process - not an easy one, but a difficult yet fulfilling one that creates change and leads us towards our best selves.

Finding our purpose is a journey. To find our purpose and passion in life, we must become aware of who we are.

Finding our passion helps us reach our potential.

And it starts with knowing yourself.

When we start to get to know ourselves, we learn more about our strengths and blind spots, as well as our interests and opportunities.

We must be able to gauge not only where we have been, but where we are going. Otherwise, we endure the potential of losing ourselves.

“You have to know who you are to grow to your potential. But you have to grow in order to know who you are.” - John Maxwell

To grow, John Maxwell suggests we focus on what is REAL: relationships, equipping, attitude, and leadership.

How Do We Find Our Purpose?

John Maxwell’s passion and self-awareness have helped him become an internationally recognized expert in leadership development.

Fortune 500 companies, international government leaders, and many other organizations rely on John Maxwell for inspiration and advice.

When you live your passion, it gives you energy and focus. This energy and focus both make each day an adventure. When you live that adventure, you find your true self.

To find your passion and be an empowered leader, you need to know the difference between who you are and what you are good at.

What drives you? Search for that. Take the time to think about what makes you jump out of bed in the morning.

Consider these questions:

  • What gives you satisfaction?
  • Why do you love those activities and experiences?
  • What are your unique talents?
  • How can you put those talents to work?
  • How can you create a better version of yourself with your skills?
  • How can you improve these skills?
  • What are your weaknesses? How can you improve these weaknesses?

Darren Hardy, the publisher of SUCCESS magazine says,

“Picture where you are in any area of your life right now. Now picture where you want to be. The first step toward change is awareness. If you want to go from where you are to where you want to be, you have to start by becoming aware of the choices that led you away from your desired destination.”

You can’t change direction if you aren't aware that you’ve been heading the wrong way. You can’t change if you continue down the same path.

The best change comes from straying away from the path and creating your own way.

Think about where you want to be, what you want to do, and how you can get there. Make changes to get there, and work diligently to continue learning about how you can be the best version of yourself.

Remember: change comes from self-awareness and constant self-improvement.

Spend some time to really think about where you are presently headed and where you want to go.

Be aware of who you are.

Find your passions and you will immediately have an advantage over so many others who only have interests.

Do you know where you want to go?
